    • Dear Future SWS Family,

Maybe you've heard about the rich history and traditions of St. William the Abbot School, the faith-filled Catholic environment in which our students are immersed, or the reputation for excellence SWS enjoys among Long Island schools!  You may have heard about our talented, dedicated, and loving SWS faculty, or our friendly and welcoming students, but no matter the reason you have visited with us today, we are grateful for your interest and happy to share our story!

For over 70 years, St. William the Abbot School has served students and families from Seaford, Massapequa, Wantagh, Bellmore, Merrick, Baldwin, Amityville, Copiague, Lindenhurst, and beyond. We are a thriving Nursery-8th Catholic school with a population of 450 students.

St. William’s offers a rigorous academic program, including daily Religious instruction in grades N-8, Regents courses in both Math and Science in grade 8, Fundations instruction in grades K-2, Fountas & Pinnell Benchmarking, iReady Math and ELA instruction in grades K-8, AIS/RTI, Spanish in grades K-8, and STREAM instruction in our state-of-the-art Monsignor Robert L. Hayden Innovation Center and Makerspace. No matter the grade level or subject area, St. William’s teachers roll up their sleeves as they facilitate learning opportunities that ensure success for all students!

St. William the Abbot School is a technological leader among schools, with a 1:1 Chromebook program for all students in grades K-8, Newline Boards in every classroom, and class sets of iPads in Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten. We have taken the next step in online learning by implementing Schoology, a learning management system that facilitates collaboration between students, teachers, and parents. Our lunch program is fully automated, as well as our dismissal program (Pick-Up Patrol).

SWS electives include Music, Art, Computer Science, STREAM, Choir, and Physical Education. In addition, we offer Fall and Spring Afterschool Enrichment Clubs for students in grades K-8, including an afterschool Sports program for students in K-5, as well as a Chess Club for students in K-8. Our Middle School students (grades 6-8) enjoy a robust and competitive Sports Program that includes Volleyball, Basketball, Cross-Country, Bowling, Cheer, Soccer, Softball, and Baseball. Our very affordable Extended Care Program provides peace of mind for working parents and is centered around prayer, play, and academic assistance.

SWS parents are critical to our mission of developing young men and women of faith.  From the School Board to the Home-School Association, to the Father’s Club, there are myriad opportunities for parental involvement at St. William’s.  We look forward to learning about your family as you consider joining the St. William the Abbot School
       family! God bless!

       Sincerely,

      Mrs. Elizabeth Bricker, Principal
